The Queen Elizabeth 2 is unique among today's ships since it was built as a liner. It looks and is magnificent, a classic ship, and I would have gone anywhere on it; the Western Mediterranean local of the cruise was a bonus. Cunard has high standards and everything about my trip reflected that. Anyone travelling Cunard will be treated royally. I was surprised by the number of passangers who were in wheelchairs or who depended on walkers to get around. The wheelchair-bound people I talked to did not take advantage of the shore excursions; the ship itself provided a wonderful holiday. Dinner is either semi-formal (jacket and tie) or formal (dark suit) and seating (in the Caronia and the Grills) is reserved for all meals. The Lido cafeteria is informal and the food there is excellent so if you don't bring a suit you can eat there on the formal nights. Teenage rebels might not enjoy Cunard formality, but it makes for a great holiday for everyone else.
